Welcome to Week 5

Week 5 is upon us! The students were pretty fried at the end of last week's madness so hopefully they have had a fun and restful weekend. This week we have only 1 test (writing) and then it's more or less into solid routines, which I'm thoroughly looking forward to. We'll continue swimming on fine days so keep sending togs along on swimming days. Class photos are also sometime this week (can't remember what day off the top of my head but it'll be in the newsletter).

In maths we'll be continuing (and hopefully finishing off ) our statistics unit. I've also got Maths Buddy up and running so I'll be handing out logins (same as last year, I believe). I usually set about the right amount of tasks for students to complete in a week and usually aim at supporting what we're up to in class. If they run out of work my expectation is that students find and learn any concept of interest to them at the right level (Maths Buddy is pretty easy to navigate so get them to show you around this week to get back into it).

I'd say a good home learning routine at this point would be to make sure your child is doing 20-30 minutes of reading daily, spending some time on Maths Buddy (daily if possible), and either bringing 1 in-class writing activity home to make it BTB or doing any piece of independent writing they like at home. As long as they read something they've written to you it's all good.

Cheers,

Mr M
