Toki Pounamu Cyber Safety - Third Session

Madeline came in again today to talk about Cyber Safety. Here are some things we covered that would be beneficial for you to discuss at home.

• Their blog is a way of creating a positive digital footprint (do you understand what a digital footprint is? Ask your child to talk about it if you're not sure as it's an important concept)
• We discussed the idea of what a digital persona is. Is the person you are in real life the same as the person you put across online? Some students mentioned that they play online games using different names. Does your child do this? Ask them about it and discuss what your policy on this is if you have not already done so.  
• Get your child to show you some of the blogs that we looked at today and discuss how effective they are. What makes the blogs effective or otherwise?
